Live Animal Shipping Policies

THE LIVE ANIMAL SHIPPING SERVICE WE USE:

A lot has changed when shipping live animals. Shipping services have come a long way, becoming extremely reliable and safe. Currently Biome Exotics ships using the “Ship Your Reptiles Service”, a FedEx priority overnight certified shipping service for live animals. We follow their standards and recommendations to assure your animals safety. We've implemented a new flat rate shipping standard for all live animals shipped within the continental US.

DAYS WE SHIP:

Biome Exotics will only ship Mon through Thurs weather permitting. Please take note and plan ahead for any holidays when you place your order. Holidays may affect shipping schedules and cause a delay. For example, If a holiday falls on a Thursday, then Tuesday will be the last day to ship for that week. 

PACKAGING METHOD: 

Please note that Biome Exotics only ships within the continental United States. Your animal will be packaged to exceed industry standards using an appropriately sized shipping box with SYR black carbon insulation foam, which provides a higher insulating R value then competitor insulation medias. To provide the required environmental temperature controls, we use heat packs, cool packs, or Phase 22 packs based on weather predictions at both the point of origin and destination locations. These packs will stabilize temperatures inside the container/box making your animal comfortable for the duration of the journey. For more information on our packaging standards please [contact us].

Please be aware that the heat packs, cool packs, and Phase 22 packs we use have an effective time limit and will cease to function properly once expired. To avoid any wild temperature swings once the media expires, we implore that you pick up and open the package(s) as soon as it/they arrive(s) or becomes available for pickup. Please also note that the limited function of the temperature control media was accounted for in our [Live Arrival and Health Guarantee]. 

Ship Your Reptiles 

CUSTOMER INFORMATION WE REQUIRE FOR SHIPPING PURPOSES:

To process and ship your animal, we will need the following information at check out:

  • Your full name
  • Shipping address
  • Phone number
  • email address.

*Please be assured that this information will only be used by Biome Exotics and the shipping carrier to communicate shipping updates.

TRACKING YOUR ORDER:

Once your order ships, you will receive an email from the carrier which includes the tracking number and expected arrival day and time.

INCLEMENT WEATHER & SHIPPING DELAY POLICY:

Temperatures are checked by our team before scheduling your shipment and once again prior to dropping off your shipment at the FedEx Ship Center. We will only ship when forecasted lows are above (38°F or 3.3°C) and highs are below (90°F or 32.2°C) for both the point of origin and destination addresses. Once the temperatures start approaching the unsafe shipping limits of 38°F and 90°F It is highly recommended to have your animal shipped to a FedEx Ship Center near you out of precaution. All Ship Centers are temperature controlled and safe for your animal till you arrive for pickup. 

Our goal is for you to receive your animal as quickly as possible but, if extreme weather is forecast, we may opt to postpone your shipment until favorable temperatures ensue. If this were to happen, we would inform you of any delays and work with you to reschedule the shipment.

CUSTOMER RESPONSIBILITY FOR HOME DELIVERIES AND FEDEX SHIP CENTER PICKUP:

In the best interests of the animal(s) being shipped, and not to void our [Live Animal Delivery Guarantee], it is very important that:

  • Someone be home to receive the package at the scheduled date & time of delivery.
  • The customer must pick up the package from the carrier once it is marked "Available for pick up".

before deciding on a shipping date please consider your schedule and any holidays. If the shipping date and time agreed upon causes a conflict, please call us as soon as possible (prior to the ship date) so that we can reschedule. you may want to postpone and request a different delivery date or have your package sent to another location or FedEx Ship Center near you.
